how about making them a beautiful quilt and gifting an electric mattress pad or eletric blanket to go along with the quilt. there are dual controls on either electric item so one can crank up the heat and the other can save the additional electric, all under the beautiful quilt that you made them. :-)

i got my electric mattress pad last winter and i love, love, love it. heated sheets, heated feet, all in the winter time; who wouldn't love that? :P

Add a narrow strip of color down the middle of the back. Helps to keep half on one side of the bed, half on the other. (Saw this in a show-and-tell, where the quilter was tired of her dh "hogging" all of the covers. With this quilt, she could show him the real meaning of equality!)

Edit: I agree about getting the mattress cover with dual controls. Much better than making the quilt unequal densities. However, I still recommend the strip of color down the middle of the back!

Do they make underpants for daytime? An optional muffler attachment?

Not sure I would like a quilt like that. Would love 2 separate person sized quilts to lay over each side of the bed though.

When I was married I was the cold one so I had a single person throw over my side of the bed when I needed it.

So, maybe 2 matching tops but different battings or backings - cotton for one and flannel for the other.

Remember that the cotton batting will shrink, but the poly won't. It sounds like a good solution, but pre shrink the warm and natural first.

On you tube it is a blanket to prevent odors from offending. Never heard of such or needed such. You tube has everything.

Yes. Thank you for the reminder....I'll be sure to pre-shrink.

Thanks for all of your ideas. I'm going to try samples of a couple of different things before doing the actual quilt for her.
