I believe she is saying she wants to "start" with a 9 1/2" square instead of the 8 1/2" the pattern uses :wink: :D:D:D

I read your pattern. It starts out with 8.5 inch squares You sew two triangles together and trim to 8. So if you use 9.5 inch squares you will trim to 9 inches. Then you cut it into four pieces. Your pieces would be 2 and 1/4 inches!

Riversong, I feel bad for you about this time. If you are starting with 9 1/2" squares, my first calculation of 2 1/4" strips is correct.

Yes like I said 2 and 1/4 inch is right. YOu could also test us out by making the step 1 block and then cut it in half, then in half again. That would give you the 2 and a 1/4 inch srtip.

I got it!!!! Its 2 1/4 for what need!!! Thanks! i have made this block a lot,just was always the same size.
