"meet me at the manor" quiltmakers' magazine & fusible web ?
i am planning on making this quilt for a wedding gift for my son. Anyone out there done it yet? if so, how did it go and picture if you have one. along other lines, it calls for fusible web for the applique. i have only used it in a wallhanging, which was pretty stiff even using "light" fusible. the pattern for the wall hanging had the web behind the entire applique if that makes a difference. i don't want the bed quilt to be stiffer where the applique is than the pieced sections. ideas, thoughts, knowledgeable information appreciated

Is this the quilt? http://www.quiltmaker.com/patterns/d...html?idx=12747
Misty Fuse does not make appliques stiff the way most other fusibles do. It is widely available on eBay and on Amazon. You can Google Misty Fuse for more information. It is a web without paper; however, it's easy to attach parchment paper to it if you want a paper-backed fusible.

There is also a technique to "window pane" the fusible - in other words cut away the center of the fusible and leave the outer edges of the fusible attached to the fabric - maybe 1/2 to 3/4 in. This may not work too well with Misty Fuse but works well with other paper backed fusibles.

I agree with June K on the window pane method. I did make that quilt as a wall hanging. If I could figure out how to post pictures I would show it to you. Last year it won Best Wall Quilt at the County Fair - I loved doing all the different blocks but putting it together was a challenge.
