Here is the one I made to carry my iron to retreats, simle to make and folds up to look like a small purse. If you follow the purple lines, those will be the folding lines. I used the silver iron board cover fabric, batting in the center, and black and white fabric on the outside, then put on handles along with a tab and button to close the top, and applied binding all around.

Thanks everybody for taking time to help me in my search. I can now go ahead with my little iron tote project by combing several of the suggestions. It was great to have links included too! I am definitely a visual learner. I knew I could count on The Quilting Board members for suggestions. Thanks again and HAPPY QUILTING !

If you really want something easy, just use two potholders and sew them together. Sew a flap to one of the potholders and put a piece of velcro on the other potholder.
When I was desperate to have a small iron holder, I used my large potholder, the kind that has the thumb in it and it fit my iron perfectly. It wasn't the prettiest and I still haven't put a fastener on it, but it works and I am too lazy to do anything about it, as long as it still works. So far, no one has mention how lazy I am.
