Minky question
#4
If you stop and think about it, if a manufacturer made a product that had a particular texture, color, pattern or weave to it, and it went away after washing they would have unhappy consumers, but they would also have wasted valuable time and resources to manufacture said product if all it was going to go away in a wash. Especially a product like minky, that is indeed 99.99%, of the time going to end up in the washer.

I bought some textured minky fabric to make a robe for my aunt. Before I gave the robe to my aunt, I washed and dried it to get all of the extra fuzz off. The texture washed away. It was just a soft, plain minky robe after that. I was certainly surprised and disappointed. My aunt loved the robe so that made me happy.

I like to use minky for backing and always wash my quilts before giving to anyone. Have never had the texture change at all. I've used minky or similar products, from name brands to HL and JA. Some have of the non-name-brand has been a little stretchier than name brand, but still works.
