I used the "cheap" minky from JoAnn's and regretted it. I thought it would be nice to have the soft bumpy texture on the front so I pieced it with flannel. I pressed the bumps right out of it. I was so disgusted. I was told, after the fact, that you need to use a half inch seam allowance. Also, afterward, I checked the washing instructions and saw that you cannot put it in the dryer.
This might be a different story if you bought quality fabric from a quilt shop.

I found some minkee at this site. http://www.fashionfabricsclub.com/ca...aspx?TypId=743
On the bolt (15 yards) it is $7.66/yard for the muchie minkee. It is $8.50 if you only want 1+ yards. The other types are more expensive.
This site also has batik at $5.50/yard. Also Blenders for $5.50/yard.

Quilt in a day has some on sale

This is some that I bought and really like it. The hounds tooth Shannon seems to be a different color when the light hits it. Makes it very pretty and interesting.
