What a co-incidence! That is the block I have picked out for my centrepiece on the International RR III. Now I just have to decide on colours :D

Yep, but it sure is a pretty block. I can't wait to make mine, I still have to decide on what colors to use, I am thinking about turquoise and light brown maybe, but for sure turquoise. Any suggestions of what other color to use with the turquoise.

I found a neat pattern called Double Dutch Rose: http://piecebynumber.com/Sq/sqintro.htm

Here is the traditional Dutch Rose with some color options: http://equiltblocks.com/cgi-bin/bloc...&path=./other/

And Carpenter's Wheel from the same site as above with some color options: http://equiltblocks.com/cgi-bin/bloc...&path=./other/

If you can get a back copy of The Quilter magazine March 07. It has a pattern sort of like the first morining star pattern. It is one large star. A little like the first block (red). Beautiful. I will see if we can figure out how to post pics and i will post it. It says it is for an advanced quilter. Each diamond in the star is made with strips. They have fussy cut the strips

I'm so glad you found it. I know this as the Carpenters Wheel. I looked at the Morning star site and there is a wealth of info on this native american quilt called the Morning Star which has many other names as well.

Your quilt will be fabulous.
peace

Many patterns have the same name so a picture will be helpful to identify the one you are looking for.
