Enjoy your time in Maui. I am sure you will come up with some creative ideas just being on the island. Have fun!

I would recommend not taking any of your quilting items since the shipping is so expensive. My address is:

This is exactly what went through my mind also. Wouldn't want to live there full time but would sure love to visit for an extended time. Good luck and hope you find a guild or quilting friends quickly.

If you have an e-mail address for one of the quilter's stores, ask them. Then by the time you have settled in your new home, you're be all set to go. Have fun!! Keep in touch and let us know how your making out.

Visit my friend Keri's shop in Kula. I know she's taught some classes, even when she's doing shows on the mainland. This is her Web site: http://keridesigns.com/hawaiian.php . Tell her Evelyn and Lydia sent you! :)

There is a wonderful little quilt shop on Kuai. You'll spend hours there. Maui also has a great shop. It's our favorite island....the kitty in my avatar was named Maui for the island.

Maybe you will get to meet Lisa Boyer. I think she lives over there somewhere. I don't remember if she still does or which island. If you havn't read her books she is so funny. Just make sure you are sitting up. I nearly choked to death because I was reading in bed. LOL, no seriously.

I just googled and found her blog.

Oh, how wonderful for you. I loved Maui so much the times I visited (many years ago) and thought I would love to live there, except for leaving my family behind. I felt such peace and love there and enjoyed swimming in the beautiful clear waters. Love the fruit, fish and weather. Enjoy and do keep us posted on life as an Islander. God Bless and all the happiness you can hold. (See my avatar for my "souvenir" from my last visit.)

Robin Jones Gunn lives in Maui now. Don't know if she quilts but she is the author of the SisterChicks books. If you haven't read them you are missing out. What a fun bunch of books. You can find her on facebook or a web search for her books. Sorry this isn't about quilting as much as books. But I enjoyed them so much, maybe some of you will also.

WOW! You sure have stirred up some excitement! Do you have a PDA we can all follow? What fun to "be there with you"!
My parents lived on the big island for 30 years, so I went there often, but never to Maui. I always wanted to, and would love to follow your adventure- best of luck to you!

Hope your home will be air conditioned - humidity and salt in the air will not be good for your machines. (I'm from Hilo and have had first hand experience with corrosion.)

Enjoy the laid back life style...

What an adventure for you. My husband and I have talked about someting similar of renting in Maui for 3 to 6 months just to see what it is like, how expensive the overall living costs are and if we would enjoy it full time. However, our daughter is getting married next summer so it will have to wait until after that momentous ocassion.

I've PM'd you and would love to hear about where you are renting and how you selected the place. We did not take the time to look for rental property the last time we were there and have only looked on-line which is not very satisfactory to me.

Good luck. Hope it works out for you and that y'all thoroughly enjoy it.
