My dad was the same. He built me wonderful things because he liked to play with them himself and figure out solutions for different problems - a real inventor. I miss that.

Congratulations, isn't there an old saying " A family that sews together remains in stitches" . . . or something like that. Have fun!

What a great hubby you have there! I would have him embroidering blocks and you could sew them together to make quilt. Very sweet story.

I'm so happy to hear of you guys that have one and like it!

Wonder if DH realizes that means we have to buy more "plain" shirts, etc to work on?

I have the 1500 D -that hubby picked out about the same way. When home he proceeded to embroider a cat on a white scrap of fabric while i was reading the manual.

Machine had a spool of saphire blue thread in it so every time it asked to change thread he said "no". So we have a cute blue cat which I think I should cut out and frame.

Yes, sometimes I wish he would do some sewing too.

Congrats on starting machine embroidery. I hope you asked if the store offered service for the machine. All embroidery machines will need service from time to time. Enjoy!!!!

I think shopping for the thread is almost as exciting as shopping for the fabric. With embroidery the thread colors are suggested, but it's really up to you what you use so here comes more creativity! If you go to www.bunnycup.com you will be able to download approx. 60 SETS of designs for free! Have fun!!

You're welcome, anything to help out a fellow addict! Sign up for the email list, too. They often have really good specials and sometimes offer a choice one of three sets for $5.

awww, that is so sweet. Have fun with your new toy. I really like the stabilizer that has a sticky side. You just put it in the hoop and stick the fabric to it instead of putting the fabric in the hoop. LOVE IT!

That is just great. I have a Brother and don't know what thread to buy. How do you know since your not making something yet. I must try my machine I've just been afraid I'll break it and I always seem to have trouble with the tension's. I'm happy for you to have that many colors like a candy shop. Sue
