I really like it the way you've shown it. The way you've alternated the colors is terrific. Can't wait to see it when it's done.

Have you laid it out differently? I am wondering what it would look like if you used just one color around the bird instead of different colors??? Love the birds.

The way you have the blocks and their sashing is great, but I would probably add a second sashing of one color, probably a darker color, that will separate and define each block. You could also use the same dark color and add a border to finish the quilt. I Love the birds and it looks like you have done a great job so far.

The colors blend so well to my eye. I'd use only one row of sashing. Having two rows distracts from the beauty of the birds and their colors. When I look at the overall quilt piece my eye stops at the double sashing and then I have to re adjust and continue looking at the rest of the beautiful focus fabrics.
But, if that's the look you want, go with the double sashing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

I'm new to quilting too, but I love what you are doing. The purple is beautiful.
