Default Baby Quilt, Space between quilting rows....HELP

I have made a baby quilt that I am pleased with, however, I cross-hatch quilted it that is attractive on the front as well as the back but when I measured between the rows it measures 4" and the bag of batting (100% cotton) says to quilt from 2" To 3 1/2". Do you think I will need to worry about a half-inch all across the quilt. I could add additional rows of quilting between the cross-hatches but it would not look as nice as it does like it is now. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Blessings to you all, you are so kind and helpful.

For a baby quilt that will probably be washed often, I add the other quilting.

if you add a line between each line it would look as good- maybe even better and would be enough quilting- for a quilt that will be laundered often you really want to quilt it to the recommendations...more is better- less not so good.

perhaps you could machine tack it in the center of each crosshatched diamond. if your machine has that automatic button, it might not be too labor intensive.

This might be the best way to do it and it would add a little design to the quilting without taking away from it.
