Default My new machine and I are fighting!

A few weeks ago, after much discussion and help from this board in my decision, I purchased a Pfaff QE 4.0. And I have been enjoying it very much; I am a Pfaff fan from way back. But today, after working perfectly up until now, it has decided to fill bobbins only half full before stopping; apparently the machine thinks the bobbin is fully wound. I tried re-threading, turning the machine off and on, etc., but it still won't fill a bobbin all the way. Such a nuisance. Of course, my dealer is closed today but does anyone out there have any thoughts on this? Or has it happened to you? Frustrating!

Normally this is adjustable. take a look at the bobbin winding mechanizm. There should be something that actually touches the thread on the bobbin to decide that it's full. A little arm or bracket or something. Should be able to adjust this with a screw driver. On my machine (viking) it's a small disk on the end of a rod that can get moved if I bump it.

That's right paper princess. I have a 2056 and there is a little arm that needs to be set . I have a small bolt on mine and have to tighten it from time to time.

Well, there is a screw on top of the thread sensor arm but it has a sort of star shaped indentation and I do not have a screw driver that fits it. I guess I will have to have the dealer fix it - hopefully while I wait. I sure don't want to have to leave it in the shop already for something that seems pretty minor. Thanks for the input.

SunQuilts, I have the Pfaff QE 4.0 also. If you use a 1/8 inch wide (tiny) flat screwdriver, you should be able to loosen the screw, move the little arm, and tighten it back up. I was able to.
