Do any of you know anything about this sewing machine? I had never heard of a Red Cross brand until my daughter bought this one for me at a garage sale. Thanks for looking

    Ooooh She's a beauty!
Like everyone else so far, I have never heard of this make/model... could it be a "branded" Singer?

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe made by Singer for the Red Cross during the war or something??

She will be a beauty when she's cleaned up. She looks like a badged New Home. The Ruby I looked at Saturday had a very similar cabinet, but fewer decals.

I've never heard of that brand either, but she sure is a beauty! She'll clean up nicely and probably work forever.

if you google "red cross sewing machine", one gets an ebay item that is a 1919 advertisement.

I agree with posting to this link. Miz Johnny most likely can tell you who made this machine. I don't think it is a Singer since the cabinet doesn't look like a Singer cabinet. New Home, Franklin, or one of the other earlier sewing companies before Singer, it could be. Beautiful cabinet!

My guess would be the same, that Singer made this for Red Cross during the war! Congratulations on your find!

I actually have a friend that has one she inherited from her grandmother. It is a beautiful machine. I know it needed to be worked on but I think she is thrilled with it. What a wonderful daughter. What a wonderful gift.
