Yes it means free motion quilting and the special bobbin case is different because it holds the thread differently for the feed for fm quilting and since I'm really new to fm quilting it's been great . Roz

Yes it means free motion quilting. The bobbin case has a different feed for fmq and I'm new at it and it's wonderful and worth the$30. The stitches are much more even. Roz

What is a cone holder? Remember, I am new and pretty
uneducated with the terminology yet. Is it something that
can be used with all machines??

A cone holder holds large spools of thread that don't fit on our machines it sits along side of the machine. Have fun new quilter. Roz

Congrats on your new Horizon 7700! I got mine about 3 months ago and absolutely love it. I'm doing way more quilting now than ever before because this machine makes it SO easy whether I'm FMQ'g or SITD. It's a joy and I know you will enjoy yours.

Jean the cone thread stand that Joann's sells is all plastic and over time the thread mast(long curved part that the
thread goes through) will bend over. There are some wonderful all metal cone thread stands that last forever.
You can get a good one at purple moose designs.

There are some really fancy(a bit expensive)cone thread stands out there; I have 2 of them. Dh and DD gave me one for Mother's Day. I bought the other one. Beautifully functional works of art.

I also bought the new Janome Horizon a few months ago. I haven't regretted it!! It is an absolutely amazing machine!! I also bought a GMQ Pro quilt frame and just got it operational this weekend. I'm having lots of fun practicing with my Horizon. The extended throat area is perfect for machine quilting on the GMQ. It is also great for doing FMQ - it has a huge quilting table included. I used to make all of my clothes and my kids clothes. Now I just do quilts. The Horizon is probably much more machine than I need just for quilting, but who knows?? Once the grandchildren arrive, I will probably be making garments again. The nice thing about the Horizon is that it will do everything - it is not task-specific. Enjoy!! I know I am!!
