Yes, you move the quilt, but the table is so nice and large and the extra throat space (16") gives you loads of room. I spray my table with silicone spray (you can buy it through Patsy Thompson's web site), and it's super slippery - no pull at all! No stiff neck/shoulders anymore for me!
