I'm warning you- the more space we're given, the more we fill up!! Wait for a couple years- there will be no empty spaces LOL! I love my sewing room, and it looks lovely when I'm not in the middle of a project, but watch out when I am! All the wall space is used, but it makes it more colorful- I think I have 9 thread racks, but it's my happy room. Sometimes I just go in there and sit if I don't have the energy to sew. It's what makes us happy. Every sewer deserves their own room!
Oh, Hairquilt- what an awesome idea about your design board!

I know what you mean my quilt room is full and I have fabric stored in my wass room and the shed too.

quick note about a "design wall"... purchase one of the rollershades that is made with the plastic strips (the kind that people hang on their porches to keep out a lot of sun). Mount it to the wall above the closet door or up under a valance above a window. hand stitch the flannel to the strips on each side and up the middle. when you need a design wall, unroll it. when not in use, roll it up. I've even been able to roll mine up with quiltblocks on it. You do have to unroll it v e r y slowly, but it can be done. :)
