Quilt Top Borders
#1
Rosee (from the board) and myself are doing a BOM for the Christmas Trees. The directions state to cut the fabric across the WOF. The fabric has children on it and if we cut across the width, the children will be heads up for the top and bottom borders but not the sides. If we cut the side border from the lengthwise grain, at least the children will be standing upright. Would this affect the integrity of the quilt top (bowing and not laying flat)? I appreciate any help that you can give on this.

Thanks everyone! This is only my second quilt using the manufacturer's pattern and it is also the second one I have come across that has many errors. The one I am working on right now is "Christmas Traditions" from Quilting Treasures. The picture and the pattern directions for this final border are nothing alike!

If you have enough fabric, you could cut the top/bottom borders across the WOF, and the sides lengthwise. I've done that before and didn't have any problem with waviness. It might help to starch if you are worried about it.
