hmm, looks like a project that could take a long time to complete. Especially if you have a full time job. It's interesting. But, I personally would have a hard time with it. Very much not my style. But, I actually can visualize a quilted project with it........It would definitely be a conversation piece. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Wow Kristakz, I thought it looked sort of "spacey". My brother wants GLAST or the Gamma-Ray Large Area Space Telescope. He is a particle physicist and this is a project he was working on. We all traveled to Florida to see it launched, but alas, the mission was scrubbed. He went back to FL a couple weeks later and the mission was scrubbed again only to launch a few days after he returned to Palo Alto. I will be watching this thread with great interest, maybe I'll turn out to be a good sister after all. Just don't hold your breath.

This is just a p.s. to my last post. I wanted to ask what is your sister's interest in the colider? and a p.p.s. I'm sure my brother would love that quilt too, so if you decide to make one, could you just make two? hee hee

My sister is an engineer (as am I), and she is very interested in all things science. She has been following news about the collilder since they started building it. She's a bit weird

This is a painted mural, not a quilt pattern. I would not do this in a quilt. Wait until she picks out a reasonable quilt pattern. This is a project that can take years and hundreds of dollars to make. Just searching for the right fabrics will require hours of time and gas at $$$. I think she is asking too much of you. What/where does she plan to use this quilt?
I love my sister too, but this is way over sister obligations.
