    Red face Necktie Quilts

New here. I'm interested in making a couple of necktie quilts. One would be fans of 6 small points in a block, and the other would be circular, using most of the long tie (like a tree skirt). I have some questions. 1. What do people use to wash the ties?
    2. I know to take the interfacing stuff out, but do I sew the back back up for the circular one? I've only seen pictures, and never the back of the quilt.
    3. For the circular one, how far up the tie do I sew? I don't want to waste time or tie length going too far.

I haven't seen a tie for years so from memory isn't there a seam in the narrow section. If so cut here then look again. My friend made a tie quilt look here http://angiequilts.blogspot.co.uk/p/jcb-tie-quilt.html . It shows the stages it went through. It is very big.

    Sorry welcome to the site.
