Hello,

When I hand quilt, I have a lap hoop.

When I tie a quilt, I have the old-fashioned quilting stands where you tack the fabric to the boards.

However, for tying quilts, I am now looking to buy new quilting frames that do not take up as much space as my old-fashioned ones.

Do any of you have the Grace or Hinterberg frames that have rails where you don't have to pin, tape, or tack your fabric and batting? If so, do you like them? Are there other brands that work well, too? I've used the ones made from pvc pipe, and I don't really like those.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I have seen both Grace and Hinterberg frames set up. If you need a furniture quality frame, then Hinterberg is better. If you don't mind a more industrial look, Grace works fine. Don't know about other brands.

I have a Grace floor frame (one of the bigger ones, but I would have to look it up to find the model) that I need to get rid of. PM me if you are interested. I started to tack strips to the rails, and that's as far as I got with using it.
