Want to machine quilt a strip quilt I'm throwing together. I have a Pfaff sewing machine. Do I make longer stitches than I would normally sew with?? Do I need to change the tension?? Any advise would be helpful. Thanks!

I make my stitches a little longer to quilt, but I don't know if that's the normal thing to do. My control seems to be better if I do. I also use a walking foot, which makes all the difference in the world! Good luck. Be sure to post a picture when you're done!

I have a Pfaff 7570 that I piece and quilt with. I usually lengthen my stitch to about 3 or 3.5. So far I haven't had to mess with the tension. I piece at 2 or 2.5. Hope this helps. This is not for FMQ tho.

I use a walking foot and stitch length of 3.0 to 3.5 too :D:D:D

Same here with my Viking. Just seems to flow better with the walking foot.

I have a Pfaff and use the attached even-feed and 3.0-3.5. I don't adjust the tension.

I have a Pfaff 7170 (I always get the models mixed up) but it sets the tension electronically), and I don't screw with it! If I am stitcing in the ditch I do about 2.5. I had a much older Pfaff (2122E) that I had to do manually, so depends on how new--and computerized your machine is? The IDT is a lifesaver!

Thanks for all the advise. I'm going to give it I try and I will post pictures once it's done. (Normally I hand quilt or tack with DMC floss) Keeping my fingers crossed!
