I am making a baby boy quilt using pictures of trains or cars. You could put blocks the same size around
the center blocks using some of the colors from the trains to set it off.

Coloring books have cute shapes that are good for applique patterns. Cheap, too!

Check out Pam Bono's website. She has some really cute patterns for boys, and her patterns are pieced, but look like applique. She's one of my favorite designers. Off the top of my head I remember a dinosaur pattern and one called "Transportation", which is all kinds of vehicles. I remember them because I have both patterns. There may be more. Good luck to you!

Thank you so much. Am familiar with it, but never knew the name.

The snakes are a popular pattern lately...but we chose this one http://www.virginiaquilter.com/cgi-l...ld5784ff9f369f with some alterations. I will post a picture when I get it done. Her baby is due in May so I will have enough time.

Thanks for all the help...if I was choosing this by myself I might have picked one the ones you listed. It was a lot of fun to have your help.

I don't know if you know this but I have found very cute ideas from the internet on the coloring pages available for kids to print and color. I have made applique with pictures found there . I just now googled coloringpages.com and found all sorts of options. I like big bold colors for boys. good luck, hun.
