    You can use the strip method. Cut your fabric into strips and sew in groups of 3 strips. Then cut the strip sets the same width as the original strips. Then sew 3 strip sets together to make your 9 patch.

    and here is link if your focus fabric needs to be directional (in example the trees are going up & down not sideways). Great easy design with endless possibilities.
