Talking Need help finding fabric....

I am trying to help my niece out ...she has started a beautiful quilt called "Inkwell" that appeared in the Summer 2009 Fons & Porter Easy Quilts. Her problem is she can't find the black toile fabic anywhere. We have gone online and also talked with numerous quilt shops with no luck. The fabic was the Classic Toile collection by Judie Rothermel for Marcus Brothers.

Any ideas where we can look....some told us it is too old a line now and will probably be outdated. Are you kidding???? How long do they make lines of fabric?

Anyway...if anyone can help me....I told her if anyone could it would be all of you...we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much.

Claudia

Try writing to Judy at Schoolhouse Quilts in Ohio. She might have it or know where you can get the fabric.
The site is: http://www.schoolhousequilts.com/

Manufacturers usually do a print run once and it's done. When it's gone it's gone. Have you used http://www.quiltshops.com/ or http://www.fabshophop.com/fabsearch.asp to search? I found several black toiles on both of those searches.

Have you tried www.missingfabrics. I would also try one of the Oriental collection. I seem to remember a black on black in one of those lines that had large fuji mums on it? The background was matt black with the flowers shiny black. If you could find something like that it may work. Good luck!

To answer your question, they only make most fabrics for one season. Why not substitute something else?
