You'll have to go with your gut. Ask and you will receive--conflicting responses. Personally, I like the brown.

The brown ties in but the red is a different hue, so perhaps you audition another?

I am sorry, but I would use the brown with the red, How about a solid red on the outside border?

I agree with this! Try it, I bet it would be more pleasing to you too. I like the brown for the final border, but not next to the red...then, if you have enough...bind in the red.

This is the alternative I like best of all the ones suggested.

I think the red and brown are fine, but I don't like the flowers in the brown fabric. Not with a fishing theme. I would go with something else.

When I have doubts, I often ask other people's opinions. My feeling is that if you loved the border it would be on by now............... My granny always used to say, 'If in doubt - don't'.

I'm all for a band of ivory (or similar) then the brown. Lovely work by the way.

In "my opinion" this particular brown doesn't work the best for this quilt. I think I would check into a brown that enhances it more and do a very small border with it, and then do a cream and then the final border I would do a red with a little bit of the teal or aqua to bring the eye back to the center of the quilt. Beautiful quilt.

I think the brown is too busy maybe if it were a blender or marble type it would look better.
