I've seen a cute quilt made from a pattern by Nancy Richoux....looked like a big green football field with appliques of a football and helmet and two. You might find the pattern by googling "Richoux, football quilt." Looked fairly easy.

Here's one with the field but I don't know if it's the one that marymm mentioned.

the one at fabshophop is the one I have seen. Knowing that he's with the panthers, you might combine panther fabric or applique somehow...No matter what, he will love it.

I have a pattern with a football player running on it. It is at least lap size. I will look for it first thing in the a.m. and post it on this thread. I'm going to make it for both my sons. They love Michigan Wolverines.

The pattern is called " Touchdown" by Glendora's Girl. It is 56" x 82" Pieced and appliqued.

I did one with the Nebraska Huskers FB fabric for a grandson (pic should be here in pics). I chose a simple a pattern --BQ it is called--came out awesome. I found the fabric on line and it was from a place in NJ of all places.

You'll find the pattern here. Scroll almost to the bottom of
    the page to find it.
