I had an additional thought for you, wildyard. One of the women that works at my LQS self published a pattern (Stripilicious by Anne D. Hunter). She then taught a class at the quilt shop using her pattern.

It was a big hit so her pattern went on sale at the LQS and she taught several more classes on it. It's now carried at Keepsake Quilting, both online and in store. http://www.keepsakequilting.com/productdetail/7556.htm

So, think about working with one of the local shops in your area to maybe teach a class and sell your pattern. You never know where it will grow from there. :D

Thanks so much ghostrider for giving thought and time to my situation. Your suggestion is great except that due to my physical problems, teaching classes is not something I'd be able to do. I do think I'll have to figure out the self-publishing thing tho, or maybe just go with the downloadable pdf files. I have a LQS already offering to carry the pattern I'm just not sure I can supply a good enough quality paper copy to offer.
I'm not giving up yet tho! :D

Self-publishing is covered in that book I mentioned...in fact, it's what the author does so it's very well covered. You may decide to buy it once you see the library copy. It's well worth the investment.

I have no idea how to publish a quilt pattern, but I hope you are successful. Let us know how you make out

Well I took the first step to find out whether the pink ribbon symbol is copywrite protected and if I can even use it or not in a commercial pattern. Thought that might be a good place to start. LOL

Oh, I just remembered! Here is a site that tells other ribbon colors and meanings. You might want to add this to your pattern, so that it reaches even more people.
