They can be put together with other blocks in between, cornerstones and sashings, or butted up to each other. They can be done on point or square, it's really a matter of taste---your's. A lot will depend on how many blocks you have and how big you want your quilt to be.

Hi! Everyone. I am new to quilting. I can not sleep most nights. So I am up to wee hours in the morning. I have several books on quilting and found some very old patterns. Just found one called Merry Go-Round. It was so old, I copied it. It was a newspaper clips from Jan. 8, 1932. I live with my sister. I am a widow of two yrs. And am learning to start a new life for myself. It feels strange. But, son is in college and I am learning to go forward.

Hi midnightwoman,
greetings from Northern CA. I read that quilting is very therapeutic - it's definitely good for the soul.
Do you have any idea how you want the shoe-fly quilt to look? Do you want to alternate the blocks you have with different blocks? Do you want to butt all the blocks you have together? Do you want to put a strip of sashing along the edge and a corner post in the centers where the sashings meet?
Are your blocks scrappy or specific colors? Are they all the same colors or different.
As you see - your options are endless.
