Default Need Help! used machine

Saw an ad for a Janome 11000 upgraded to SE for $1500. The reviews range from love it to worst mistake I ever made. I want it mostly for quilting and wonder what the board thinks. Is there a better used machine in that price range? Thanks so much for your help!

Last yr. about this time I bought a Janome Horizon 8200 on e-bay from a dealer for $1500 new. It has the 11 inch harp. I love it. Sorry, don't anything about the 11000, but for the price I would check around.

First, decide what you are looking for in a machine. Auto cut embroidery thread, scissors, no bulky embroidery unit, 8" square hoop, usb port, etc. I had to buy a few extra things that it didn't didn't come with: 5x7 hoop, thread stand that sits on the machine, and I didn't get the acrylic table for quilting. If you do larger quilts the harp is still small.
I use mine for a backup and take to sewing club. My newer one has better lighting and bells and whistles, but heavier and the bulky embroidery unit. Wish you were near someone to take some time to check it out.

I have an 11,000. Love it. Use it for garment sewing, embroidery, and quilting. Don't know about the price. I bought mine new.

I have both the computerized machines and a mechanical machine. My old Janome 9500 just wasn't cutting it for quilting, so I purchased a mechanical Juki 2010 which I love. I have upgraded to the Janome 14000, but I use the machines for different purposes. If you want to use the embroidery function on a quilt then the Juki is not it. Ideally, one computerized and one mechanical machine give me the best of both worlds.
