Default Need an idea for this mini quilt

My hubby's grandma gave my kids a farm pillow 22 years ago (the faded farm photo). I came across these same farm squares at a quilt shop over 1 1/2 years ago and I was thinking of making pillows, but now I'm rethinking of making a mini baby quilt. There were 4 or 5 grand kids that got these 3D farm pillows, I actually thought to make a new style pillow for the ones that got one years ago, but I don't know if they'd like it or toss it. I know my daughter would love it, so I thought she'd get the mini quilt. (none of these great grandkids has children yet) I need an idea of what to do with these fabrics...anything????

Great Gram made the pig and the chickens puffy by adding batting or something behind the area she wanted....I have no clue how to make that 3D look, but I would like to try that too.

Any help would be great!!!!! This is one of my UFO's that I hope to get done sooner than later!
Thanks!

A shoo fly block alternated with the prints might be cute. As for filling the animals, I would put a muslin behind the print. Stich around the animal then cut a slit in the muslin and stuff from the back side.

Thanks for the help...I was thinking that same idea to make them 3D! Anyone else have a block pattern idea...the animal prints are 8" square.

Padding the appliques is easy. Cut batting the size (or a scant size smaller) of the applique. Place the batting between the applique and the quilt block. Hand stitch or machine applique around the piece. I use a fusible between the applique and the batting so it will stay in place.

Trapunto. Back design with light fabric and slit where desired. Since whole quilt will be sandwiched you can Wonder Under or StitchWitchery the covering on,
