Default Need info on a gammill quilting machine - $550

Found this on Craigslist but don't know anything about quilting machines. I did email and ask if the machine came with the frame and they said it did and it worked.

    http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/app/3828367640.html

I've been stalking the internet looking for a quilting machine but this one sounds too good to be true.

    Any info would be appreciated.

If you live nearby it might be worth a shot to go look. I would see first if it's hot. That's pretty big even for the original price. I would find out the age and as much info as I could.

That's a pretty old Gammill, it looks like the binding machine I bought in 2000. Nothing like my Gammill quilting machine I bought at the same time.

Ask her for the model number or serial number than google it.

Looks like a very old machine but if the table is sturdy and in good condition, the machine works (would certainly test it first......bring 2 pieces of muslin and batting with you), and it would serve your purpose, go for it! You could call Gammill for more info. They are very helpful.

The throat space doesn't look very large and not a long arm. That would be very limiting.

that's a great price. it looks like a 9" throat, which means you will have about 4.5" quilting depth at the end of rolling your large quilt.

Is it for the machine or the frame? The description of
"For quilting the center of a quilt. Machine is12 feet long by 3 foot."
sounds like a frame. I agree that the machine pictured is not a longarm.

I believe that maybe 15 years ago or so, Gammil used to sell a setup with a short arm industrial Singer or something similar. APQS had one, too.
