I like the version with the three stars also. The version with more stars not only overpowers the interior design but also makes the lovely ribbon border lose its effectiveness. The ribbon border you now have is very pretty and adds to the balance of your lovely quilt.

I never notice the strings on my board until I go to take a picture!
I love your stars. I'm gonna have to try S & W one of these days. I have a template that cuts each piece individually.

I agree with three top and bottom. I thought maybe having a blank block on the corner would look strange so tried the seven. But it does look too heavy and dense to me as well. Thank you for confirming my thoughts. It really does help to have lots of eyes.
