But don't cut 3 1/2 inch squares. Cut 3 1/2 inch strips, one of each color, and sew them together, then cut.

Thank you everyone for your input. I am using this block for a swap exchange. So I only need to make 12 blocks. I could only find the pattern for an 8" block.
