Need Name for a Quilt Block and Suggestions

    Hi all,
I have 3 very subtle grey, black and white Civil War prints that I adore!! I want to showcase them with the white I bought to go with them. I was thinking of the block that is two smaller triangles opposite and attached to a larger triangle to make a square. I can't find this name in any of my books and it is hard to google without a name! Does anyone know the name? Also, any suggestions for even better patterns for showing off fabric that are easy?? I am an advanced beginner, maybe!
    Thanks,
    Nancy

    Has anyone done this one?

It is the Chain Block. It looks like it might take a while to make each block. I like fast!!

Nancy, this is just squares and flying geese. Easy.... Beautiful block. Also if you want to showcase a fabric I'd cut the center square in 1 piece instead of 4....

I like that Chain Block....but as noted in a thread yesterday...don't worry so much about fast as the price of fabric makes slowing down and maybe enjoying it more economical

No, I don't think so. It is a square block, and one side of the square is two smaller triangles and the other side of the square is a larger triangle. I don't think that is Flying Geese block.
    Thanks,
    Nancy

I know what you're talking about. I would call it a "half quarter square triangle", but it must have a proper name.
If you put four of the blocks together with the lighter of the small triangles toward the outside, you get "Double Pinwheel" according to "Around the Block" by Judy Hopkins, or "Windmill" according to Better Homes and Gardens' "100 Quilt Blocks".
I need to do more research...
