I am having trouble with my thread breaking. I can do about 2 or 3 rows and then the thread breaks and I get those birds nest on the bottom(bad). Then I adjust the tension on the top and try it and the bobbin and try it(you know how it goes) and then I get it perfect and start again and 2 or 3 rows later, same thing. I have changed the needle, made sure the quilt is not too tight, and made sure it is the right height on the take up bar. I am using King Tut top and bottom with warm and natural batting. I have truly ruined this scrap quilt(my mom made..ugh). Can you tell me what to do to fix it? Another question is that I have the zipper leaders...can I take the quilt off and put it back on in the same exact place after I take out the birds nest? Getting very frustrated...I want my short arm back(not really). Thank you for any help out there.

i have gammill clasic plus no zipper leads so can't answer that one but Are your birds nest where you start? Are you pulling the bobbin thread and hold both till do couple stitches to lock in place. Same thread top and bottom? I was told not to have needle in straight north__south more a little wonky like north-west to south-east this angle \\\ helps thread travel better and you can't adjust unless have a full bobbin to start with what do you have your stitch set at if yours has the regulator try lengthening so can see where messing up Sometimes find its computer thing Shut off..go have a cup of tea ..unthread all top and bobbin rethread turn on and try again sometimes its the little things bobbin going clockwise, clicking in, top thread slips behind tension instead of through it I'll keep watching this

I have a Gammill Classic Plus and you can unzip your quilt, take out the stitches and zip back on. Some people have told me that they do not like the King Tut thread because of breakage, I don't know, I don't use King Tut. Do you belong to the Gammill Yahoo group, people there will give advice on how to fix your problem too. Go to their database and look for postings about tension. Hope you get it resolved, I hate it when you have to mess with the tension instead of enjoying the quilting.

Hi There!
Have you tried contacting your dealer? They should be able to provide you with support.
Typically loops on the back of your quilt are due to the intermittant tension being to loose or the bobbin thread tension too tight.
It is a "tug of war" between the two to quote Superior Threads.
