Need some help reducing the size
I need to make a Christmas block and the size of the block needs to be 10" finished and 10 1/2 unfinished. I found this on a calender and it is called Memory Block and it has the cutting size for a 12x12 finished block I darkened the 5 sizes I need to cut on the picture. Can anyone reduce this for me on their computer . Thank you! The sizes are A 4 1/2 sq, B 2-7/8" C 2 1/2" D 5 1/4 " E 2 1/2 x4 1/2"

The reason this pattern works as a 12" block is that there are 6 equal size patches on each side, and 6 divides 12 nicely. To make it as a 10" block, you would need for each of those HST's to measure 10/6" finished, which is 1 2/3". That's not an easy measurement to work with. I would pick a different block. Failing that, I might print the block, reduce it to 10", and then paper piece it.

If you have or know someone with Electric Quilt, that also makes it easy to paper piece any size block and is perfect for times like this. You design it any size you want and tell it to print out what ever size you want at the end.
Peckish describes the math so well! I don't do math in my head any more but from years of working in offices I know how to find where to make it happen on copiers, I actually do more quilting than people would think at the copiers at my local Staples branch. You might even have good options at home if you have a multi-function printer/scanner.

I generally try to reduce or draw things out on graph paper. Maybe you could either redesign the block or make some small changes to it to get it to work out as a 10". For example, you could make the middle section a little smaller.

You could always make it a 9 inch finished center block and put a 1/2" finished sashing around it. You could use the Background fabric and do it as a floater.
edited to add: You just never know when a picture will post like you thought the orientation is or just sideways. Hope you can see what I mean.
