What a cool quilt. As much as feathering along each diagonal stripe would be so cool it might not be right for a guy.

I would do a follow the square pattern in each block, just go around from the outside to the center of each block, about an inch or two spacing. Hope this is understandable. Maybe someone with the ability to draw it out could help!

    I really like the quilt.

I think I would go with a pattern which reflects his interests. A fishing pattern if he is a fisherman, for example. There are patterns with bears in the woods, evergreen trees, moose, etc. if he likes to hunt.

If it were me I would do an ivy leaf/vine on the borders and the for the middle I would do maybe large leafs with animals intermixed in it.

That's an attractive top. If it were mine I'd want something that accentuates the curves (echoes the curves) with some straight line quilting in the center of the strips. Please let us see what you decide.

You know sometimes less complicated is the best solution. Taking this seriously under advisement. Problem is I have bought so many toys and patterns I feel like I should use what I paid for, but you just may be right.

The name is Savanna and the url is http:www.saginawstreetquilts.com The ruler that was suggested was around $25.00 which I thought was too much to spend on a dedicated pattern. I took my heavy plastic pattern sheet and make a curve down the center and used that instead. It really is doing that and using lights and darks. The pattern started out as a wall hanging and then I added the black border for making it into a twin but we bought a full size bed therefore the rust colored fabric for the extra border. The black and rust border covering the pillow was just an accident but I really like how it looks. The room used to be very, very girly with the yellow walls and white frilly curtains and white wicker furniture. Need to transform it now.

If you like it, you are done. If not, wipe the original pattern off & copy another on it. Preview the patterns until you get one you like.

I always thought that if you had curves on a quilt you would want to quilt curves, but I have found just the opposite most of the time. Straighter lines look good on round or curvy blocks while curlicues or Baptist fans look fantastic on log cabins. It's all in what you like.

Look forward to seeing what you choose.

I like the wood grain idea, but also think that some kind of circles or spirals would give it motion
