    Default Need your creative juices

Our guild has a challenge to make a wallhanging using an idium; and the animal in it has to be a loon. I am stumped. No juices running here. The first thing I do each morning is read the daily digest here while drinking my coffee. As you can see I rarely comment. But a day without reading the board is like a day without coffee. You quilters are great. I have learned so much from all of you. Thank you for your never ending knowledge. I am truly blessed to have found you all. Thank you also ahead of time for helping me with this challenge.

The only one I can think of is: Crazy as a loon.

Maybe a "crazy quilt" with an loon applique?

Hmm. The only idiom I can think of that has loon in it is 'Crazy as a Loon'. I would do a paper pieced loon, looks like there are a lot of paper pieced patterns out there. Just google. Here's one:

Then for the border, I would do crazy quilt blocks.

The only think I can think of is Crazy as a Loon or Loony Bin? Of course up here in Canada we call our $1 coins with the loon on one side, Loonies.

I thought of Loony Toons. Maybe a cartoon character?

Here is your fabric. Never heard of a loon or seen one.

Really? They are beautiful birds with a haunting call. Remember "On Golden Pond"?

Up north in Indiana, there's Loon Lake namely for all the loons that nest up there. You don't dare treat them cruel the game warden and the residents will come down on you so hard. The bottom of the lake is full of leach beds so it's a great feeding spot.
