I have the 3160 to carry to classed and it is a tuff little machine and a real work horse I have a 8900.15000 11000 and the 3160 my newest is the 15000 and its 3 or 4 yrears old no problem with any of them

I have a Janome MXL 50 and a 6600 (too heavy to take to classes ) and I love my little machine ! Does what I need and is a workhorse !

have a 6 (or 7?) year old Janome Jem and it goes to class with me as well as on airplanes and to retreat. It has never caused me a problem and I love that all my Janome feet fit both it and my bigger Janome. Weight is about 10 lbs.

Also, I kept the molded Styrofoam packing and carved channels, to accommodate the housing for my carry-on suitcase's pull handle, into the piece that fits the front of the machine. That way, when we are flying, the front of the machine is totally protected from bumps and dings.

I traded in a couple of problematic Singers for a Brother Simplicity--it's light weight, is computerized so I have my needle up/down feature, has a built in 1/4" and a needle position adjustment so that it's actually accurate! I don't have a walking foot on it or FMQ foot as I only do those things on my Elna Quilt Pro Queen.
