I use mine with the basting gun, too, not just safety pins.
I push the needle all the way from top to bottom and back to the top, use the Kwik Klip to push the fabric to the base of the needle and pull the trigger.
If you have a nut pick (seafood pick) you can use the handle on that, too - it's got nice ridges to cradle the pin on the safety pin or the needle on the basting gun.

yep i got one when i used pins a lot. lately i've pinned some borders and can't find my kwik Klip so i got out a white pointed Hera marker and used it to hold the pin tip up while I close it. worked fine. grapefruit spoons also work.
