I love Carpenter Stars, but for r/w/b, I would use Ohio stars. Eleanor Burns did one years ago that worked up nicely.

Try the YouTube tute by Missouri star quilt company. It is really a nice quilt and I am already picking fabric for it in three colors

I love the Feathered Star. I have made several of them.

Here is a layout with alternating Ohio Star blocks and snowball blocks-

I would probably piece the star parts of the blocks a different way as I would prefer not to have the extra seams. They are flying geese units if pieced with no seam.

There was an absolutely AWESOME RWB quilt a few months ago, here on this board. It was pieced by mhansen6, and quilted by amandasgramma. The pattern itself is named Eldon by Eydita Sitar, pattern available at Hancock's, as well as the templates, but you could make your own templates. That is next on my (overflowing) bucket list: seems like a little work, but well worth it. Can't wait

I love the Ribbon Star in RWB. Just Google for Ribbon Star, and you'll find lots of pics.

Any star block would work well in RWB. I do love the Ohio Star but any would be lovely.
peace

Here's the one Moda used last year for a collection of blocks they assembled for, I think, 100 quilts.

Since I watched the tutorial on Missouri Quilt Co., my favorite is the Lemoyne Star! Jenny has a super easy way of making it. I also love the Carpenter's Star but haven't tackled that one as yet...It's on my bucket list.
