I lived in the Mojave Desert (Ridgecrest) for many years and I have to say, I think that's close to the hottest part of California! It's about 40 minutes from Death Valley and there is always a week in the summer that would be 120F (48C). It's like a vacation spot for those in hell. Ugh!!!!! I'm so glad I live in Idaho now, where the average temperature in the summer is 85F (29C). 8-)
