Thank you for the compliments. I had the farm chores quilt machine quilted by someone. The other quilt was just tied. I made the mistake of putting iron on backing onto the fabic because it was shear and I did not want the ribbon work to show through the back. I had to pull every stitch through with plyers - not your usual sewing tool. I used craft ribbon instead of silk ribbon to make it more durable for little ones, so the extra thickness and the ribbon made it really difficult.

Hi and welcome, going through the closet is a great idea!
you will be surprised what you might find.
I once cut up a pair of DH's lounge pants, because I wanted to add them to a quilt!

Your quilts are quite cute! Love the farm chores! I have to use grippers sometimes to pull the needle through and it really slows one down. :?

Welcome to the board! I LOVE batiks, myself! I'm working on a batik quilt right now, actually.

I buy local as much as possible, but, whenever fabric.com has a sale....I usually take advantage. If you signup for their e-mail newsletter they will send codes for discounts....got 25% off my order today! :)

Here's a picture of the batik quilt I am working on now.

Hi and welcome! Whenever I go into a fabric store, I beeline straight for the batiks, I just can't pass them up! Like most, I try to buy what's on sale, but when there's a color I can't possibly live without, I'm a sucker and buy it anyways. The result has been quite a collection of fabrics that I can't decide what to do with because they're so pretty. I think I caught the addiction bug that everybody's talking about! Your farm quilt is absolutely adorable!

Welcome! Batiks go on sale a lot, especially online. Be sure you wash them before using, as some are notorious for using extra dye.

You may want to grab some of those sturdt cotton sheets for backs or for dying. I love your farm!

When I started 17 years ago, I did not think about quality. Now I wish I had. I would rather spend a bit more and know the fabric will last. I made a small quilt for my dog and after just a few washings, the cheaper fabric exposed itself by starting to fall apart.
