I admire your expert piecing but this quilt is not pleasing for me. I think the color choices are "off", too many unmatched prints and tones for my liking. Your hard work shines through though!

But I love the original!

With that said, I don't think I'd add sashing. But I would use black embroidery thread and chain stitch around each block on top of the ditch.

It is busy but that's what the lady who designed it wanted I guess. It will be wonderful when it's done, I'm sure.
