Default Not Allowed!

What’s not allowed in your sewing space?

For me it’s coffee and tea. Even if I’m doing hand sewing away from my sewing room the sewing stays on one seat and I eat or drink on another.

Anyone one else got any self-imposed rules?

For me it is my pets. No pets allowed in my sewing spaces, too many dangerous things for them to get into. I do get the occasional breach in security by one of my cats but they are quickly corralled and banished. As much as I love them and adore their company I can't have them in there when I am working. I do find it amusing when I hear my Yoshi chirping and trilling on the other side of the door and I see a paw feeling about under the door. I only allow myself water in a capped container. No food except the occasional bite size chocolate.

Our dog is not allowed upstairs or in our finished basement. Only one the main living level. My sewing room is up there. He’s a Golden Retriever. We don’t want to deal with dog hair in three levels, nor do I want him to accidentally step on a pin or the pedal while I’m sewing (happened once at our old house and scared the crap out of me!).

I usually have just water to drink in mg sewing room, but if in the mood for tea or coffee, I keep it far away from my fabric and machine.

No restrictions in my space.

Charlie, the cat hangs out in there much of the time whether I am there or not. The dogs follow me in the room and stay while I am working in there.

Patches, is long gone now, but he used to pay on the ironing board right up against the iron. I have no idea how he did not singe his fur.

I do have lint rollers and a broom. Bare concrete floors make it easy to sweep up the fur and any random pins and needles.

I enjoy the company of my critters.

Can't think of a single "not allowed" for my sewing space. Maybe quilt police?

no food and my water which is medically necessary has to have it's cap on
when I'm not actually drinking.
I have a well behaved cat but she was never allowed in my sewing studio
for her own safety.
Now I have redone a room and moved back into the house we shall see
how things go. She's pretty good at not bothering things as long as you
tend to her needs.
I'm getting a chihauhau and I don't expect problems.
I will keep the door closed on the room that holds the fabrics.
I might have to have noise canceling headphones when my husband
wants to use the computer behind me though.

My DH. He gave away FW, and he picked up a rotary cutter that I didn't know how to change the blade yet.

Nothing is not allowed. I spilled white wine on a quilt once. No stains, but it hasn't happened since. I don't drink red wine up there because I know it makes me loopy. I save it for winter evenings before dinner, downstairs.

I don’t allow liquids in my sewing area either.

Can't think of anything not allowed except the Quilting Police. Bubba, our 80 pound dog, has his very own spot on the guest bed that occupies part of my sewing area and he likes to snooze up there when I'm working on a quilt. Sometimes he ends up snoozing on WIPs that have been stashed on the guest bed- but I figure that's what the lint roller is for LOL! I am careful to pick up fallen pins and needles immediately so he doesn't step on one- but being vigilant about that is worth it to me to be able to enjoy his company.
