not happy with quilt top--what to change?

l don't think there's enough difference to do all that ripping. Those fabrics are in the same "family". Your sister may have an entirely different opinion than you do! You might even try a bit of hand embroidery on those squares...perhaps white daisies using crotchet cottonLet the quilting take it to a new level.

I would be inclined to change out the white(with butterfly) and replace with something similar to that brownish color....the brown color that is in the fabric 2 rows out from the white. Leave the pink....that's my opinion.
BTW....I have not read any of the other comments...just wanted to read them later to check how my opinion compares with what others said.

I like it just as it is and I'm sure your sister will love it, especially since you used the same fabrics for each sister. What a very thoughtful gift. (sometimes we look at our own work too critically, IMHO)

I read all the comments and went back for a second and then a third look. I think the white fabric pulls the eye too much. The pink looks fine where it is. If I were to change anything, I would change that fabric for one with a cream or beige background. You know, your sister is going to love it whatever you decide, because you took the time and effort to make it for her.

It would be a major "Problem In The Area" to change out any of the squares.
That said - the "row" of yellow flowers on red background between the "solid" pink and "yellow" seems "heavy" (to me) in that position. I like the pink and yellow fabrics that you have.

Paint the white squares to tone them down, tea or actual fabric paint diluted-and leave the rest. Once it is finished it will look great! Looking at quilts closeup will cause one to question everything.

I appreciate the feedback. The squares that look white are actually a pale aqua.
I think you're right about the red and yellow floral squares -- maybe I'll look for another fabric to replace those squares instead. I always need an excuse to go to JoAnn's anyway.
