not happy with quilt top--what to change?

You're other option is to keep this one and make a new one for this sister.

I like it as is - but if really bothers you I would start a new one and donate this one - someone will love it for sure. Sometimes what doesn't suit us will thrill someone else. Besides sewing is much more fun than ripping. Good luck.

Your quilt is beautiful as it is. I would NOT rip all those seams out. I started working on a log cabin recently, started assembling blocks from one pattern, then accidentally picked up a little different log cabin pattern, and had to rip 55 blocks. I got really well acquainted with my seam ripper (didn't make me like it any more than I had previously liked it) but ripping was my ONLY option. NOT FUN!

I agree with Mariposa. If you change to the darker fabric you've pictured the values (lightness/darkness) of the two adjoining squares will be too close. Since the white squares aren't really white, they're light aqua, use machine quilting to move the light aqua closer to the darker aqua squares. This isn't really necessary either. This is a lovely quilt top. I love making around the world quilts.

Thank you all for your ideas and thoughts (and compliments!). I keep waffling back and forth--change it, keep it as is--but haven't made a decision yet. I'll post again after the 'deed' is done, or not done, as the case may be!

Your quilt is very nice. I don't find anything wrong with the pink you are using. On almost every quilt I make, I don't like it after I finish the piecing. Then when I quilt it with a pantograph, it morphs into a much more desirable quilt in my eyes.
