Ode to the Quilting Board
#1
When I started sewing many years ago,
There was just so much that I wanted to know.
I'd call up my Mom, always eager to share
All of her knowledge from her easy chair.
If Mom didn't know she'd call on a friend
And many a hour of chatting she'd gladly spend.
"I'm sorry Lori, we really don't know...
But here are ideas, so give them a go."
My results were mixed and often just bad
And sometimes my sewing made me SO mad!
I knew I was destined to make things by hand
So other crafts were tried and I came a big fan,
Of cross-stitch and tole, scrapbooking too...
But deep down inside I knew what I must do!
So back to the sewing room I went with new books
And magazines by the back load were all worth a look!
My questions remained but I muddled by
I brainstormed solutions and gave them a try!
I got better and better and learned a few things
And OH how I loved how my SINGER would sing!
I bought a Janome, the queen of the quilts
And yes the price tag gave me great guilt!
And then in December of 2007
I stumbled into what I call "Quilt Heaven".
The quilting board came into my life,
Just four short months after I became a new wife.
Eight months more and I could retire
And I tell you friends, this place lit my fire!
I now have a place where I celebrate
All the events and projects that have happened of late!
I ask all my questions and I've answered a few
And I now have a network of friends... all of you!
We laugh and we share, we send out our good wishes
And share our recipes for those really great dishes.
If I can't find a link, then I ask in a post
And in come in the answers in a few minutes (at most!)
I watch all the tutes and I learn quite a bit.
The QUILTING BOARD has become a great hit!
So thanks to you all for being here.
As I soon will celebrate my second year,
Of learning and sewing and sharing with you
All of the wonders of quilting with this wonderful crew!!
Thank you to the administrator for giving us this opportunity!
