Ah yes, the dreaded air sewing.

I have never understood why every sewing machine - especially the pricier ones (I have a Bernina 635) - don't offer this as a standard feature! Are they really that clueless?

Wish I had a dime for every time this happened to me. It's the main reason I bought the Janome I have...clear throat plate, clear bobbins, so I can see how much thread I have.

I'm constantly doing that. My brother even has a see-thru bobbin plate and I still do it!!! Now that's sad!!! I just get up and away from the machine for a while.

No, they aren't -- this feature is on my machine -- I have the new 830. Someone offered the suggestion (in another post) to use two bobbins -- one in the bobbin case and one on top. They would both use the same amount of thread so you would know when the bobbin is running out. That was a really clever idea!

You poor thing! Haven't done this (my Bernina 820 stops if no bobbin thread) but I've done plenty of other stuff. Like chaining 4-patches only to find out I'm sewing and sewing them together wrong. And ripping out and doing it again. Or cutting many many pieces that are the wrong size...stupid ruler!
