I would be interested in knowing how you number or label your blocks when you remove them from your design wall or layout area so you can sew them in the correct order. I have tried using numbers written on painter's tape, but this is only partially successful.

For the past 19 years, I have used the technique Eleanor Burns (Quilt in a Day) illustrates in her books (at least the ones she wrote 19 years ago!). It's just a pattern of arranging them so they don't get mis-arranged, and they stay in order as you get further along because you don't cut the threads between them. See if you can find one of her books and find the directions in the back.

I went to my collection of hobby books and pulled out my 1986 copy of Make a Quilt in a Day Log Cabin Pattern by Eleanor Burns. There were the directions of which Cathe spoke. I will be sure to give this method a try. Thanks to those who answered my question. Sometimes it is the small details of a project that can make it easier or harder to complete.

Cathy's suggestion of the colored dots, a different color for each row sounds much better than my painter's tape. If I combine the Quilt in a Day method with the stickers, I am sure to be a lot less lost. Thanks.
